Our Mission
Our Mission is to lead and grow the organic walnut industry, by providing high quality walnuts and superior service while maintaining the highest integrity to our customers, growers and employees. Our aim is to grow and process healthy, wholesome food in an environmentally responsible manner by developing, promoting and educating others about environmentally responsible agriculture.
Guiding Principals 1. To provide our customers with a consistent supply of premium organic walnuts
Dixon Ridge Farms aims to provide our customers with naturally wholesome, nutritious, fresh and flavorful product. Because our customers’ needs are year-round, we maintain year-round inventory to guarantee product to our customers and we strive to retain additional inventory to allow customers to purchase above and beyond their contracted amount.
2. To support the Earth
Dixon Ridge Farms aims to farm and process our product by implementing methods that enhance and care for the soil, air, water, energy resources and overall environment. We strive to look for new and innovative methods to farm and process in ways that enhance and protect the environment, including our participation in the development of the Biologically Integrated Orchard System (BIOS) program, organic farming for walnuts, development of cover crop options for walnuts, Integrated Pest Management (IPM), installation of solar panels and we are currently working to develop Biodiesel from walnuts and burn walnut shell for electricity and heat.
3. To support family farming
Dixon Ridge Farms aims to support family farming and protect farmland. We are a family owned and operated farm and processor and we buy from over 70 family farms – growers of all size throughout Northern California. We are working to protect our land with conservation easements; and we support organizations such as Community Alliance for Family Farmers (CAFF) and American Farmland Trust.
4. To support our employees
Dixon Ridge Farms recognizes that our employees are crucial to our success. We strive to pay our employees a living wage. Almost all of our employees work year-round, very few are seasonal workers and we offer benefits such as year-end bonuses, pay advances, paid time off for vacation and illness, and more. Because we are dedicated to our employees, our employees are dedicated to us and many of our employees have been with our company for over 15 years.
5. To support education and research
Dixon Ridge Farms aims to educate students, farmers and professionals about organic agriculture. We invite local school groups for a Fall harvest day, we open our orchards and processing facility to university and government researchers to learn more about organic farming, and we welcome and give tours to industry and educational groups.
